Okay everyone. Yesterday marked the release of the final chapter of the Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
As many of you know, I'm a huge Harry Potter geek. I love me some Harry Potter. It started with Prizoner of Azkaban. I was bored on a Friday and since the rest of my friends had class, I decided I would go see a movie. By myself. The only thing that interested me was Harry Potter, so I figured I would give it a shot. I loved it so much that I brought Chad back that very night. I read the books, and we made it a tradition to see the movies on opening weekend (if not opening night) every year since.
I think it's safe to say that Deathly Hallows sheds what little "child: facade the series had left. Things had turned dark long ago, but people still figured that it was a "children's story". After seeing the final movie, it's incredibly clear that this is NOT meant for children.
It was, however, absolutely amazing. I honestly don't think I've cried that much in a movie in a long time (well, probably since Wall-E). My favorite scene from the book was something I was really concerned that they would either not do correctly or even not do at all. My worrying was for not- they did it beautifully. The action was non-stop. They kept as close to the book as possible. It was, simply, epic.
Even if you're not a Harry Potter fan, I beg you to go see this. In the theaters. It's your last chance. These movies were meant to see in the big screen. As for us, we'll be going back tomorrow to see it again in 3D on the IMAX. I imagine it's going to be even more epic. I hope that I can hold myself together better than I did today.
Also, the hubby and I have decided to take a day on our vacation this March to visit the Magical World of Harry Potter. When else would we do it? So, we decided it needed to happen. I'm a little worried since I've been pretty critical of Universal's lack of theming. I've heard nothing but great things though, so I remain hopeful!
I digest- go see Harry Potter. DO IT NOW.
