Why Do I Love Disney?

Greetings friends!

It seems that I've gained quite the reputation for being "the Disney Girl" both at work and amongst my friends. I'm completely fine with this (I worked hard for that title, darn it!) but I've also been asked a few times why I love Disney so much. I feel like my answer never really sums it all up, so I thought I should really spell it out.

As many of you know, I was lucky enough to grow up in Clearwater, Florida. I had an excellent childhood, which included countless trips to Walt Disney World. Luckily, as a Florida resident, things are a bit less expensive, and since we only lived about an hour away, we could simply make the drive back home at night.

I suppose that my childhood memories play a pretty big role as to why the parks mean so much to me. Virtually every square foot of the parks holds a flashback to a much simpler time for me, strolling hand in hand with my parents as we enjoyed the parks together.

Then, there's the magic. Disney is the only place I know of where the only boundaries you experience are those of your imagination. There, someone who wouldn't normally get to experience such amazing sites or cover so much grounds due to physical limitations, is able to experience everything someone who can walk is able to. You can be a kid again without being out of place. You can try new things (World of Coke, anyone?) or not, and not have to make any apologies.

Disney is the only place where you'll be greeted with a warm "Welcome home" when you check in at your resort, and end your day with a "Have a magical evening." Where customer service isn't a thing of the past, and your children can still believe in fairytales.

I can't explain it much better than that. I still get choked up thinking about the feel, the smells and the sounds of walking down Main Street USA hand with my husband at the beginning of our vacation excited about the new memories we'll be creating together, and hope to someday share with our children.

This time of year it always hits me harder- and I get choked up thinking about that magic. It's always been a tradition in our home to watch the Disney Christmas Day parade in your pjs. I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to carry on with this tradition this year! All plans are on hold until the parade is finished!

For anyone still skeptical about the magic the parks bring, check out the video below of the Candlelight Processional at the American Experience at EPCOT. This beautiful re-telling of the Christmas story is narrated by a special guest each night, and offers guests a truly amazing experience for guests. It truly is nothing short of magical.

While I can never properly convey why Disney means so much to me, I hope this has helped. It's that warm fuzzy feeling of childhood that never goes away. It's the place of my childhood, and the place I plan on sharing with my kids. Walt said it best himself:

Wishing you your families the brightest, warmest, and most magical holiday season you've ever had!
