Hello again Mousekateers!
Well, it's a big week over at the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom! This week, Imagineers unveiled the new interactive queue. Now, guests will take a new route to Master Gracey's home. In doing so, they'll be experiencing new sights and sounds, while paying homage to the old queue. Check out this video from the Disney Parks Blog. While you're at it, check out the video underneath from the people at Orlando Attractions Magazine to see the new "Hitchhiking Ghosts" area at the end. Be sure to comment and let me know what you think!
I already gave my opinion on the entrance (still having mixed feelings), and am curious what it'll be like in person.
ReplyDeleteAnd boo. I liked the animatronic hitchhiking ghosts at the end. The projections look fine, but the originals were more tangible. Half the fun of the haunted mansion for me (if not more than half) is appreciating all the effort and details that went into it, which is harder to do with projections.
I couldn't agree more Riki. I was quite disappointed upon hearing of the hitchhiking ghosts being re-done. I can't tell from this video if they're still "appearing" in your Doom Buggy or if they're simply floating along the wall. Either way, I wish they would've kept it the same. We used to love guessing which ghost we'd get :(.
ReplyDeleteInteractive queues seem to be all the rage right now, which I find so interesting since I've always loved Disney lines. It really is so different standing in a line for a ride or attraction at Disney versus Universal or Six Flags. There's a different feel. Plus, they've always put so much into their details that it was fun to look for Hidden Mickeys, etc. My concern is that this is going to encourage children (as it should) to play and touch the items, but it could perhaps end up holding up the lines. No one wants to be waiting outside in 90 degree weather waiting on a 13 year old to stop playing with the graves. It could be a non-issue, who knows. Only time will tell, I suppose!
Oh they had BETTER still have the ghosts riding in the buggies with you. My most vivid Disney memory from my first visit when I was 9 was being in the middle of the buggy (between my parents) and the ghost looked like he was on my lap. My parents were worried I might get scared, but I just thought it was funny! I can't imagine not having that experience. :(
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I have similar concerns about the lines getting held up, but here's hoping parents either 1) keep the kids moving or 2) let others go ahead if the kids are too engrossed to move on. Like you said, time will tell!
